June 2013

Prophets,

The Grotto is chugging along doing some great things and we would love to see you at our meetings. But, with summer upon us the chances to attend a meeting is not really an option. Instead, keep an eye on your mail for information on possible events over the summer months.

The Grotto is working on setting up several events for the summer. The events being looked at include a fishing trip, attending parades and festivals, a picnic, and attending a Mud Hens game. As details are confirmed we will be letting all of our Prophets know what is on the schedule.

We are going to be working to organize a full form ceremonial for this fall. If you are interested in taking a part in the ceremonial please contact either the secretary or myself. If you know of anyone who would make a good Grotto Prophet, invite them to join us this fall during the full form ceremonial. It is a great opportunity for candidates and current members both to see the beauty of our work and have a fun time.

A few of our Grotto guys are meeting at Shooters of Maumee about 4:30 on the first Wednesday of the month, before coming out to the meeting, for a little social time at the range. If you are interested in such an activity just come on out, this is not a Grotto event exactly, but a gathering of Grotto guys. Check with our Facebook page or website to see if the group decides to go out in July and August.

Prayers for our sick and distressed Prophets.

Mark Anderson - Monarch

No Monarch's Message for the month.

April 2013

Prophets,

Big thanks to everyone that came out for the March meeting and the Leprechaun Degree. PM Josh organized an amazing event that had representatives from eight different Grottoes from throughout Ohio. Word is that the Leprechauns will be returning, but we haven't heard when yet.

Our April stated meeting will be at Northern Light Lodge as usual. Please come out for dinner beforehand at the Elks club starting at 6:00pm.

We have seen the fun that the Grotto can have; now the question is what do you want to do to keep this fun going? The search for officers for next year is starting, if you want to take a roll in planning events like the Leprechaun Degree or a fishing trip let any of the officers know.

Dues notices were sent out in February and we have gotten an excellent response. If you have not received your notice please contact the secretary so that one can be sent. If you haven't paid please get your dues in or let me or the secretary know if there is a problem.

Prayers to our sick and distressed.

Mark Anderson, Monarch

March 2013

Prophets,

The year is rolling and the Grotto is moving with it. February was a great month, we brought in a new Prophet, had a great meal, and a good social at the Elks. Let's keep the enthusiasm alive as we move through March.

March 6 is the Leprechaun Degree. If you want to attend and have not called in your RSVP to Josh you had better do so. We need a final head count by March 1. After that day we cannot guarantee a meal for you at the discounted rate of $10. The evening will begin at 6pm at the Claddagh Irish Pub at Westfield Franklin Park Mall. We will have dinner and our stated meeting, then the Leprechaun Degree. Please Josh call to reserve your space.

March 20 will be another social at the Elks hall in Maumee. Ladies are encouraged to attend. We want our ladies to be an active part of the Grotto, as they give us so much support. Ladies are always welcome on our meeting nights as well. Any wife, lady, or widow that attends a social or meeting night dinner will have their meal paid for by the Grotto.

If you have not paid your dues this year please do so.

February 2013

Prophets,

Thank you for the warm welcome at my installation in January. The evening was wonderful, with a bunch of people that all had a great time. Excellent food and conversations made for a memorable night.

Our February meeting will be a busy one. We are expecting to have one or two candidates to initiate, a couple of officers to install that were unable to make it to the January meeting, and finalizing the plans for the March meeting. Come on out, the pre-meeting meal will be at the Elk's down the street. Any wives or ladies that come out with you will have their meal covered by the Grotto. During our meeting the ladies will have the opportunity to speak with a Mary Kay consultant and just generally enjoy each other's company.

March is shaping up to be a big meeting. We will not be meeting at the Lodge building in March, but taking our show on the road to a local establishment. Full details on the location and any special considerations will be sent out in a letter. Keep an eye on your mailbox for details as we prepare to put on the Leprechaun Degree on March 6.

If you have the address or phone number of any Grotto widows please let our secretary know. We want to ensure that they receive news about the Grotto and any special events that they may be invited to.

Prayers go out to our sick and distressed.

January 2013

Prophets,

Welcome to a New Year! The theme for 2013 is Mirth, Fellowship and Support. First, I want to thank all the Prophets who participated in the Maumee Holiday Parade. Despite the cold we had a good turn out and the crowd in Maumee was huge.

We are kicking off the New Year with our Installation of Officers on Saturday, January 12th. Dinner will be at 5:00pm with the Instillation at 6:30. I first want to thank all the Prophets who have agreed to serve as officers in 2012. We have a number of activities planned for the coming year. This includes a special presentation of the Leprechaun Degree in March, Grotto Night at the Mud Hens and a fishing trip. We also plan to continue the Master Mason Night and to participate in several area parades. In 2013 we are also moving our monthly social event form West Toledo to Maumee. The social will continue to be held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month starting at 6:00pm at the Maumee Elks Lodge at 139 West Wayne Street.

Lets have a great time and remember what we are here for. The special needs of children through the work of the Grotto Humanitarian Foundation.

Fraternally,

Monarch Mark Anderson and Lucius P. Imp
